Marble Trough Sink — Long Single-Block Basins

A marble trough sink is one long basin carved from one long block — up to two meters of seamless stone serving two users, one drain or two. Marbly Design carves trough sinks to your exact vanity length and ships them worldwide, insured and duties paid.

Troughs suit master baths, boutique hotels and restaurant washrooms: generous, architectural, easy to share. Allow roughly 90–100 cm of basin length per user, so a genuine two-person trough usually lands between 150 and 200 cm. Fluted fronts and floating installations are signature looks.

Specify length, interior slope and faucet count; everything is confirmed on a drawing before carving, with bracket engineering for wall-hung installs.

Length is a block problem before it is a carving problem. Research on dimension stone production found that about 51% of extracted material is discarded at the quarry and a further 20% is lost during processing, leaving less than 29% of the stone to reach a finished product (Bogdanowitsch, Sousa & Siegesmund, Environmental Earth Sciences, 2022). Blocks that stay sound and fissure-free across a full two meters are the scarcest of all — which is what sets the ~200 cm ceiling, not the tooling.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can a trough sink be?

Up to ~200 cm from a single block; beyond that we discuss two-block designs with a near-invisible joint.

One drain or two?

Either — a gently sloped single-drain trough looks cleanest; two drains suit heavy simultaneous use. We carve both.

Do hotels and restaurants order these?

Yes — troughs are a trade favorite; see our Trade & Wholesale program for multi-unit pricing.

How long does a trough sink take to make?

Four to six weeks of production, plus transit. A long fluted front is the slowest stage — each groove is cut then dressed by hand so the ridges read evenly across the full face. See why a hand-carved stone sink takes 4–6 weeks for the week-by-week breakdown.
